Baptism

If you believe with all your heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, ask yourself, as the Ethiopian did in Acts 8:34, ‘What prevents me from baptized?’ If it’s just water, come to our church BBQ’s (May 21, June 25, July 23, Aug 20, Sept 10) right after second service (12:30ish) and be baptized! If you have any questions at all, Pastor Shane would love to hear them!

Who should be baptized?

Those who believe and have made a decision to follow Jesus Christ. Read Acts 8:26-40

When?

It is never too late, however the scriptures indicate it should be fairly soon after your conversion. Read Acts 2:40-41, Acts 8:12, Acts 9:1-9, and Acts 16:25-34

Why?

The scriptures say we should be baptized. Matt. 28:18-20 and Acts 2:38 Jesus himself was baptized. Matt. 3:13-17, Mark 1:9-11 and Luke 3:21-22. The scriptures teach that it is a symbol of Christ’s death and resurrection. Read Romans 6:1-14.

Where and How?

The scriptures teach that we should be submerged in water, this would mean a lake, river or pool. Look again at Matt.3:16, also John 3:23.

What Baptism is Not

It is not a requirement of salvation. An example would be the thief on the cross, Luke 23:39-43. Also read 1Corinthians 1:10-17. Baptism is simply an outward sign or symbol of what has taken place in our heart, it is symbolic of our commitment to follow Jesus Christ.
